Dr. med. Alexander Schmidt is chairman of the Kurt Singer Institute for Musicians’ Health, Hanns Eisler School of Music, Berlin.

He is co-investigator of the project SP10: "Musician’s Dystonia as a model for the nature-nurture debate: Classification of endogenous and exogenous trigger factors in musician’s dystonia".

In the last years he has undertaken epidemiological studies, demonstrating that behavioral factors may be involved in the development of dystonia.
